Skinny Kitty Market-Style CSA
How it works:
A market-style share means greater options for you, and ensures you go home with what you want eat! Each week we will set up tables, coolers and crates similar to our farmers-market booth. When you come to pick up your share, you'll be able to "shop" through the items and select the bunch that's right for you. We encourage you to take one of each item, but understand kids can be picky, and not everyone is thrilled to see kale each week. Depending on availability, you will be able to double up on some items, and skip others. We will harvest and pack extra, so even the last member will have a selection.
If you can't make the pick up in time, we will leave you a box with your share in it just like before.
Delivery will be on WEDNESDAY from 3-6pm in Northgate. Near 5th ave and 125th st.
Why are we changing to this model?
We chose this style after listening to our members. They wanted more options in how they fed their families, and we feel this is a great way to do just that. A traditional CSA-box forces you to use (or deal with) all the items in the box. If by week 4 your kids refuse to eat chard, you can only hope the rest of the shares don't have chard! With this new model, you can skip over the chard, and grab an extra zucchini, or bunch of radishes. This also allows us to keep the produce in coolers, and larger boxes that keep it fresher longer and avoid wilted bunches and mushy lettuce.
We are also changing to this model for us. Bonnie delivers the shares, and with a baby on the way, we needed to find a way to make the CSA work for our new family. Our Nortgate site is at Bonnie's parent's home, so by using this as a home-base to distribute the shares from, Bonnie and Baby can be comfortable and happy!

Other perks to your share!
- As always, our members have access to FREE U-PICK in our orchards! Spend an afternoon wondering the farm, picking apples, and spending a nice day out on the farm. This is a great way to stock-up on apple sauce, and other treats to stock-up for winter, or share as gifts!
- Access to our cider press! We have a commercial-grade 10gal stainless steel cider press that you can use right here on the farm. Pick your own apples, then press away. For $40, we handle all the set-up and clean-up, so all you have to do is squeeze the juice!
- Farm Party! Each September we throw a party for our members to come and visit the farm, meet other members, other farmers in the area, and enjoy an evening of good food and friendship.
